Terms of Service

Welcome to ExpenseReports.app (“the App”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the ExpenseReports.app website and application.
By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Nature of the Service
ExpenseReports.app is a browser-based, local-first application designed to help users capture, organize, and export receipt information.
Today, the App:
- Runs primarily in your browser
- Stores data locally on your device using browser storage (IndexedDB)
- Does not require an ExpenseReports.app account
- Offers optional third-party integrations you may connect (for example Google today, with additional providers possible)
- Current active connector capabilities and scopes are documented in our integration inventory and will be presented to you for review and consent before you connect any integration
- May use low-accuracy location permission to infer nearby cities locally
- May perform automated extraction from imported receipt content (for example Schema.org JSON-LD in emails)
- Does not transmit your data to servers operated by us
The App provides software functionality only. We do not host, store, or manage your receipt/report data on ExpenseReports.app-operated servers.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the App.
By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- The data you choose to store in the App
- Reviewing and confirming imported or auto-extracted fields before submitting records
- Maintaining your own backups (if desired)
- Exporting or deleting your data
- Ensuring your use of the App complies with applicable laws, workplace policies, and third-party rights
Because data is stored locally and/or in third-party services you connect, we cannot recover lost data.
4. Data Storage and Processing
All data handled by the App is processed and stored locally on your device by default.
This includes:
- Receipt images or imported proof files
- Metadata you enter (dates, notes, categories)
- Report groupings and exports
- Optional email-proof references and preview snapshots created during mail-import flows
If you enable optional third-party backup/sync integrations, app data may also be stored in your provider account storage area under permissions you grant.
The App does not store or process your data on remote servers controlled by us.
Clearing your browser’s site data will permanently remove locally stored information.
Location assistance runs locally on your device. If enabled, it uses rough device location to match nearby cities from a bundled dataset and does not store raw coordinates.
5. Privacy
ExpenseReports.app does not collect, track, or transmit personal information to our own backend services.
We do not use analytics, telemetry, ad cookies, or advertising identifiers.
When you connect optional third-party integrations, your browser communicates directly with those providers under permissions you grant.

6. Third-Party Services
Optional integrations with third-party services are provided for your convenience.
If you use them:
- You authorize access under the scopes shown in the consent flow
- Your use of those services is also subject to the third party’s terms and privacy policies
- Service availability, API limits, and account restrictions are controlled by the third party, not us
Connector-specific scope and storage details are maintained in policies/integrations.inventory.yml.
We are not responsible for outages, policy changes, or account actions taken by third-party providers.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
- Attempt to bypass technical protections
- Use the App for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes
- Misrepresent the App as a hosted or managed service
- Hold us responsible for data loss resulting from local storage, third-party integrations, or device failure
8. Intellectual Property
a. Ownership
ExpenseReports.app, including its design, code, workflows, branding, and documentation, is owned by its creator. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
b. License
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal or internal business use.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or redistribute the App
- Create derivative works
- Reverse engineer or extract source code
- Use the App to build or market a competing product
- Remove branding or attribution
Client-side execution does not grant rights to reuse or exploit the App’s intellectual property.
9. No Warranty
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind.
We make no guarantees regarding:
- Availability
- Data persistence
- Accuracy
- Compatibility across devices or browsers
- Continuous access to optional third-party integrations
You use the App at your own risk.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ExpenseReports.app and its creator shall not be liable for damages arising from:
- Use or inability to use the App
- Data loss due to browser, device, user action, or third-party service behavior
- Import/export errors
- Inaccurate, incomplete, or auto-extracted data
Your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the App.
11. Updates and Modifications
We may update the App or these Terms at any time.
Because the App has no mandatory account-based notification system, you are responsible for reviewing updates periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the current Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time.
We may suspend or discontinue the App at any time without notice. Because we do not host your local data, termination does not remove data stored on your device or in third-party services you connected.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the App’s creator resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
